What We Do

The Huddle is a nonprofit dedicated to driving social change, equity, and inclusion through sport. Founded in 1985, we've equipped over 100,000 athletes and sport professionals with tools to positively impact their communities. Our programs, created by athletes for athletes, foster candid conversations and use data-driven insights to promote safety, equity, and belonging. By empowering the next generation of leaders, we stimulate progress and advance social change through innovation and action.

Our annual Celebration of Changemakers In sport

Our annual gala is a decades-long tradition of honoring individuals who use their power and influence in sports to break barriers and draw awareness to social justice causes. Previous honorees include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Allyson Felix, Jordyn Wieber, Jackie Robinson, and many others. The 2024 Gala honored four individuals who embody our belief that sport is a powerful unifier for all, while our 2025 Homecoming Reception honored our founder in Boston, where it all began.

#LAPCHICK40 40th Anniversary

For over forty years, our organization has identified the most pressing challenges in sport & society and developed innovative solutions to encourage leadership and responsibility to make changes in ourselves, our teams, and our communities. Last year, we inducted our founder, Dr. Richard Lapchick, into our Hall of Fame for his pioneering work in social justice and sport work since 1985.
